Duration: This is a temporary position from 2 July to 10 September 2026. You will work a minimum of 23 hours per week during off peak periods, up to 38 hours during Event periods. Shifts will be allocated on a rota basis between 09:00-23:30 daily Monday to Saturday. You may be required to work additional paid hours.

You will be working on a rota basis, with an emphasis more on the evenings during the Concerts series and Tattoo period, whilst during non-Show days, your hours will be skewed more towards daytime working.

Job Purpose Summary: To provide a safe and secure site during events, working with the Operations team during the Concerts series and Tattoo period. While also helping the wider staff during the busy event period. The successful candidates will require a positive and flexible approach to the tasks requested of them.

Key Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the maintenance and positioning of equipment and stores across the venue.
  • Operate the General Assistant (GA) van in the movement of equipment and stock from Head Office to the Esplanade.
  • Support contractor and staff requests for general assistance.
  • Communicating with the Multi Agency Communications Centre (MACC) in the event of an emergency.
  • Being polite, welcoming, friendly and ready to help.
  • Assist with variety of allocated tasks as requested by the Events Assistant and General Assistant Supervisor.
  • Address general enquiries, undertake general runner duties, and ensure the space is kept clean and tidy.

Essential Criteria:

  • Positive and flexible attitude.
  • Ability to work in a fast paced, physically demanding environment.
  • Ability to follow instruction.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Ability to lift and move items in line with the training provided.
  • Full and clean driving licence.
  • Confident driving in Edinburgh city centre.
  • Must be aged 21 or over in compliance with the company’s insurance terms.

Desirable Criteria:

  • First Aid qualification.

Rate of Pay: £13.45 per hour
